Now i just find that the school year is more like time off.   Over the summer I have to work twice as many hours and make twice as much effort to see my best friends since we don't all live in the same campus anymore.  Summer's a drag... what do you guys all do to pass the time when you're bored? I totally recommend it.  If you have the opportunity to do it and value free time more than money (not to mention actually doing something with your life besides sitting behind a desk or something) then you really should do it.     I've been teaching for 5 years now and I've never once complained about my summers not being fun!  I don't have much money, but playing shows, hanging out with friends, watching movies, reading books, going to the beach... none of that really costs a lot of money.   Most importantly, however, my son will be one year old on Saturday and I got to spend all of last sumemr with him, all of Thanksgiving week, 2 weeks for Christmas, every weekend, all of this summer, etc... Get the point?   To me, it's simple.  My time is much more valuable than money.  I'd have to triple my salary to even start considering another job, which isn't going to happen, and even THEN, I know I'd be back teaching within a few years.   If you have the time, you should check out the book "All Summer Long" by Bob Greene (1993?).  The characters in this book decide to make summer fun again.   By the way, it looks like I'll be out with JS in late-July or early-August, so maybe I'll get to meet some of you...   Mike IP Logged "I laughed so hard a little pee came out." - Brett "That ghost put something in my pants!" - Ben liv YaBB God/goddess     Gender: Posts: 787 Re: Summer's lost its loving feeling. « Reply #8 on: Jun 10th, 2004, 6:49am » Quote Modify Mike, that was a great message.  You make teaching sound like the best possible way to spend life.  It's awesome that you have so much time to enjoy the things you love, and it's clear that when you actually are working, you enjoy it very much.  What do you teach exactly?   Awesome that you get to go on the road with the band.  Are you going to be taking on a specific role with them or just going along for the ride?  I know they will love to have you.   Oh, and funny quote at the end of your message there - Ben described that night to me and it sounded hilarious.
