I'm lucky in that I've seen 2 very rare performances of Master Suzuki.  Once was when it was still a new song (i think) at the show i booked at the firehouse last may.  The other was around a month ago when Ben (solo) opened for the Kamikaze Hearts at a place called Justin's in Albany.  Both were awesome.

Today's song is "Good Old-Fashioned Loverboy" by Queen, as it's been stuck in my head alllllllllllllllll day.

I love Master Suzuki too, but the guys (specifically Ben) refuse to play it live, hence I've never seen it.  Very disappointing.

Were you the merch girl last night (Lawrence)?

Oh wow.  I didn't realize Master Suzuki was so rare.  Standing outside The Bottleneck last night I guess the 30 or so people who were watching got a very special treat then.  They said they would play any song we wanted to hear that they didn't play inside.  After the show I talked to them a bit and in the end I had requested Arthur Nix and Master Suzuki which they did not play live (I wasn't too suprised by Master Suzuki, but all the KC crew largly knows is Arthur Nix).  I was buying merch and they came and got me so I could hear the songs I requested.  So yes, we not only got Master Suzuki, we got Master Suzuki acoustic on the sidewalk outside the venue.  It was very cool.  That set on the sidewalk now means even more to us Kansas City fans, so thank you.  Your wecome to play Lawrence any time you want to.

(I got the "post-first show high" going on right now.  The Lawrence/Kansas City crew are still all very impressed.  Personally it was everything I hoped and expected it to be and far far more.  There are now plenty of new fans in the Kansas City/Lawrence area so Jupiter Sunrise needs to come back SOON.)

"Love is all around" by Billy Mack.

"I feel it in my fingers, i feel it in my toes... love is all around me... and so the feeling grows."  Just so darn catchy, it's been stuck in my head since i watched that movie this afternoon.

Goodwill Hunting by Myself, Ludo(www.ludorock.com)

and now for the best part....the rant:

Girl, I remember when we was sittin’ on your couch
Watchin’ Good Will Hunting, holdin’ hands and drinkin’ milkshakes
But milkshakes melt, people change, and you dumped me on my birthday
Right after I bought you that really expensive thing from the Body Shop
Called Jojoba Loofah Milktowel or something like that
That I sold 147 Cutco knives to afford, but whatever, hey, it’s cool
I’ve moved on you know, I’m happy now – well, happy in a crying sorta way
You know, curled up naked in the shower biting your knees wishing you were dead kinda happy
But I realized you were right, we were never meant to be
And you know what? Thank God
‘Cause you’re the most vapid, whiny blah I’ve ever met
Always making fun of my clothes, telling me how hot other guys are, asking me to pay you gas money?!
Buy your own gas you bug-eyed mooch – it’s your car and it costs more than my house
Oh and now you’re going around trying to sleep with my friends
Hey good, that really makes you an empowered individual – no wait, did I say empowered individual? I meant two-cent gutter very *friendly* person

Listen you tanning-bed-baked, broke-ass, goat-faced, oompa-loompa monkey problem
I am proud to shop at Target, I’ll wear warm-up pants any day of the week
Yes, your ass did look fat in those jeans, your mom’s a M.I.L.F.
And I plan to get on your little sister just as soon as I give her a call back, oh and you know what else?

Just want to clarify something - it's not that Ben "refuses" to play Master Suzuki live.  He loves that song.  But some songs don't go into heavy rotation because they need to be practiced more, or they don't happen to work with the rhythm of the current setlist.  As evidenced by the Kansas City show, there are certain times when the moment is right for a rare song to get played.  Glad you all enjoyed Master Suzuki.  Cheesy

Well I don't know about the rest of the group who was at the show and the acoustic set outside, but I know I feel very thankful and blessed that they cared enough about the fans that they were willing to play it outside for us in their first show in Kansas ever.  They had every reason not to do that for a bunch of fans who are seeing them for the first time.  That, and we got some other new stuff that really shows to me that they truely appreciated the support we showed them.  They now have a pretty good sized following in Kansas City, too.

Songs in constant rotation in my cd player:
Suburban Legends- Up All Night
Sugarcult- Back to California
Stroke 9- California
Motion City Soundtrack- The Future Freaks Me Out
Franz Ferdinand- the whole d**n
 album
Rooney- Daisy Duke
The KGB- Fortune and Fame (awesome band!  check them out somewhere- they don't have a website though)

Whenever I play Franz Ferdinand at work, everyone asks if it's the Cure.  It's getting fairly redundant.
